This study is intended to examine in detail large biopharmaceutical company sourcing and outsourcing practices and performance, confidentially comparing: e.g., levels and trends of off-shoring, volume outsourced by type of study/project and service, what types of R&D work companies are outsourcing and why, how contractors perform on a variety of measures, the investment of effort to manage vendors, as well as differences in outsourcing strategy. The study encompasses the entire spectrum of R&D, focusing on companies’ overall efforts to harness this versatile and powerful aspect of resource management.
