In light of recent changes in sourcing models undertaken by major companies in the biopharmaceutical industry, and the increasingly critical role outsourcing plays in Clinical Development, there is high interest in obtaining a reliable comparative analyses of sourcing practices and the resulting effect on the organization both in terms of structure and performance.
This study examines in detail biopharmaceutical company sourcing practices and performance, confidentially comparing data on an array of important issues, such as different models of sourcing adopted by the industry; level of investment in off-shoring and outsourcing; role of emerging markets as part of these strategies; types of work companies are outsourcing, including the volume of effort by study and type of service, and an understanding of the drivers of these trends.
The study also assesses performance, asking whether various sourcing practices have generated performance benefits, and highlighting areas where improvement may be found. Similarly, the study examines the practices uses to manage these relationships, including the overall organizational structure set forth to support the new efforts.
